Category:

Description

Euphorbia decidua is a rare, deciduous, stem-succulent species native to parts of southern and eastern Africa, including Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Light

Thrives in full sun to bright, indirect light. Aim for 6–8 hours of sunlight daily for optimal growth.
Indoors, place near a south- or west-facing window. Outdoors, provide some afternoon shade in very hot climates to prevent sunburn.
Soil
Requires a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix.
Watering
Water thoroughly during the active growing season (when in leaf), allowing the soil to dry 8–10 cm from the surface before watering again.
Reduce watering significantly during dormancy (when leafless), keeping the plant almost completely dry in winter.
Avoid prolonged drought during the growing season, as this can stress the plant.
Temperature
Prefers warm temperatures; avoid exposure to cold below 10°C.
Protect from frost and cold drafts.
Dormancy
Euphorbia decidua is deciduous and will lose its leaves in winter or during dry periods.
During dormancy, withhold water almost completely and resume watering only when new growth appears.
Toxicity
Always wear gloves when handling or pruning.
